Jen Manuell is the owner, operator, artistic force and maker behind Fish Eye Sisters.
Descended from a long line of talented craftspeople and artisans, Jen grew up in a busy household surrounded by art and craft. Jen carries forward the tradition of her creative fine-craft roots. Through Fish Eye Sisters, Jen is pursuing her dream of making a living making things.
Although Jen holds a Commerce degree from Queen’s University, in terms of textiles Jen is largely self-taught and is an enthusiastic experimenter. Her passion is coming up with new twists on traditional techniques. A large stash of wool, amassed since she began rug hooking in 1999, was the inspiration behind her current focus on sewing and quilting with wool.
As an accomplished rug hooker, Jen has taught classes across Canada, in the US, and England. Her work has been exhibited in Canada and the US and has been featured in several publications, most recently in the book Simply Modern by Deanne Fitzpatrick.
