This new limited series of Wall Art is all about layers + texture.
The circular shapes have been 'printed' using pieces of silk ties, resulting in colour + pattern from the ties being transferred onto a piece of plain wool material. So this base layer you see is actually just a single piece of wool fabric – all that remains of the silk is the newly created design on the surface of the wool fabric. The colours + designs are softer + more subtle because the silk shapes I used in this piece had already been used once before.
Additional layers are added with my long arm quilting machine, creating definition + texture that is very tactile. Shapes are accentuated with rows of stitches, negative space is filled with freeform quilting + organic patterns. Several colours of thread have been used, adding variety + detail.
Please Note: one fabric was used for all of the 12" squares + another fabric was used for all of the 9"x12" rectangles. The overall colour is similar, but it is not the same.
Each quilted textile is mounted in a 1.5" wooden gallery frame, custom made in Québec + finished with a matte grey stain.

Care Instructions. Resilient and simple to care for, wool naturally repels water and stains. Soak up spills when they happen. Simply vacuum, dry brush or dab gently with a damp cloth to spot clean the wool as needed.
All Fish Eye Sisters products are specially designed and completely handmade by Jen in her studio just north of Huntsville, Ontario, Canada.
